Time is short, Thank God anyway.

6 January 2007
  1. I’ve so much wanted to record the events of the last 2 weeks of December in greater detail but time has been a short commodity.  However, Thank God for David and Nelson who were here even for just a short time.  Nelson started a blog detailing their time here and we’re grateful for their contribution.  Check out what happened while they were here and also the birthing days of the Lighthouse.
  2. We had a church committee meeting on Wednesday.  We worked on the bulletin, talked about the worship order, the duty roster for the month, talked about our theme verse, details for the church signage and prayed.  Thank God for enthusiasm of the young people.
  3. Pat,  Nathaniel and Christy are sick.  We are fighting to get healthy.  Gade is also down.  We need God’s mercies for the long haul.
  4. Last night was the first time since Christy slept through the night since November.  Praise the Lord.  Last night, we prayed as a family asking for God’s Protection and praying that God would nullify the works of the devil in our family.
  5. Praise the Lord that Apple’s mom plans to come again this week.  She apparently was quite touched by the love, care and concern showed to them during the loss of her husband.

For we wrestle not against flesh & blood…

19 December 2006

Monday morning, after the motorbike accident.

All of us came into the house after the police and the couple on motorbike left. What became apparent was that we’d forgotten to pray for God’s protection for the day like we’d normally do. It also brought back memories of last year when we were delivering tracts to the post office. We’d forgotten to pray and Gade and Nathaniel were hit from the side enroute to the post office.

The devil doesn’t like us encroaching on his territory. What a timely reminder to seek God’s Protection.

Church Planting with a “Crash”

18 December 2006

Monday morning 10am, 18 Dec 2006, Nat & Pat’s house.

Gade, Ying, Koy, Nelson, David & I had just said goodbye to Pat, Lilian, Lisa, Suzanne[Pat’s sister and 2 daughters], John & Geoff as they left for Central. We sat down and were sharing praise and thanksgiving items when we heard a crash outside just as Pat drove out. We rushed out to see what had happened.

A couple on motorbike had come down the soi just as Pat came out of the driveway. Nobody in the car was injured. As I reversed the car so that the rider could come off the bike, the female began shouting and making loud comments. To this day, I’ve not met another belligerent local female such as this woman. She refused first aid or any help. Both rider and pillion had bruised left ankles and the woman was bleeding slightly. Our friends from the spa across the street tried to calm her down and ask her to speak nicely. We agreed to pay all damages but she refused to calm down or be consoled. Her “boss” [the man riding pillion] refused to get involved.

I told her we were calling the police so we could resolve things. She refused and rode off saying they were late for work. Miraculously, 2 policemen came riding down the soi just as she was leaving. She also spoke roughly to them.

The policeman were coming for their regular patrol and came in the nick of time. They concluded she wasn’t being sane or reasonable. So there stood about 15 of us…policemen, spa girls and all staring incredulously at them as they rode off.

She refused to be taken to the clinic. She refused help to take the bike to the mechanic. She said she would be in touch.
