God is Light

7 January 2007

“The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.” Isaiah 9:2, KJV.
“The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.” Matthew 4:16, KJV.
“The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” 2 Corinthians 4:4, NIV.

During a recent rainstorm, the lights went out. My children in the other room screamed out in fear. We rushed in to comfort them. In the corner of the room, the emergency light shone out brightly, pushing away the darkness.

Light dispels darkness. But even before that, we need to ask God to open their eyes and remove their spiritual blindness. Just as God blinded the eyes of the Jews to the Lord Jesus because of their unbelief (Jn 12:40), God can just as easily open their eyes to see the Truth of the Gospel.

“Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.” Psalms 119:18, KJV.

Praying for My Loved One:

Dearest Almighty God, please open the mind of __________________ so that he/she can see Your Glory. Please cure his/her spiritual blindness that he/she may begin to see and understand Your Word so that one day, he/she will be able to make a conscious decision to know the Lord Jesus Christ.
